Many chat applications scattered around the world, especially those who want to become the next WhatsApp and earned a lot of money. One of them is called React Messenger chat application. Since its launch in late November 2013 for the iPhone, this application had horrendous chat world in Asia especially in Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippine because of its uniqueness. How unique this application?

React Messenger has a concept that is quite unique in that it combines a very simple chat functionality with its ability to selfie. Every time you type a message, whether it be writing or drawing, React Messenger will automatically take a photo of your face with the front camera of your mobile phone. The result is that the entire conversation in the React Messenger will contain a lot of face selfie both sides.

React Messenger is ideal for smartphone users who like to photograph selfie while chatting. Nowadays, many companies such as WeChat, BBM, Line, KakaoTalk, and Facebook Messenger vying to bring the sticker.  However, React Messenger did not participate vying to bring stickers like these firms. Stickers are contained in the application is an expression React Messenger users themselves.

Since the initial launch, the application is successfully siphoning about 200,000 users of which 70% are users who are in Southeast Asia especially Indonesia when this application was actually developed for the U.S. users.

React Messenger application will be having some problems when they want to be a mainstream chat application in the world. First, a new application is only available for iOS when the majority of smartphone users are android user. Second, users can use all the capabilities of this application, they must have a front camera feature on their mobile phone, and it can be a problem when React Messenger launches Android app later.

Unfortunately when I tried this app, it took a long time to send messages to friends, this might be due to the amount of data that needs to be sent as selfie pictures are always side by side with us. One other feature that also may not be favored React Messenger user is storing only the latest conversations, and delete old conversations.

But for those who are bored enough to use popular chat applications such as BBM, WhatsApp, Line, WeChat, and KakaoTalk, React Messenger can be a unique and fun option to talk with your friends while selfie. This application is still in beta and will certainly continue to be developed by the developer.
